Debate Rules & Guidelines

• Bilingual Contest Structure: The debate is conducted in Hindi and English separately on the campus of G.B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology.
• Team Representation: Each participating university is entitled to enter two teams of two delegates each (one Hindi, one English team). In each team, one member speaks for and one member speaks against the topic.
• Fostering New Talents: To constantly promote and encourage new speakers, any previous participants who have secured first position in this contest in past years are not eligible to compete.
• Time Allotment: Each speaker is allotted 5 + 1 minutes. Immediately following each speech, there will be a Q&A session.
• Question & Answer Round: The questions from judges/house will be restricted to 1 minute, and the speaker's response must be completed in the next 2 minutes.
• No Written Speeches: Speakers reading from pre-written text will not be eligible for prizes. A single slip of paper bearing only brief key bullet points is permitted.
• Final Adjudication: The decisions of the judging panel shall be final and binding on all participating universities.
• Registration Deadline: The final date for debate team registration is December 05, 2026.
